SL Start New Mexico has launched a new service under Compass Career Solutions: Supportive Community Integrated Employment. This program is intended for individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, e.g., intellectual disabilities and autism, who are 18 years and older.
Employment services are provided in community integrated settings where at least 75% of the employees do not have developmental disabilities.
The individual receiving supported employment interacts with non-disabled workers and retains the right to assume risk, make informed choices, and be successful working in the community with necessary supports.
Using a customized service model that includes person-centered planning, discovery, skills assessments, job carving and job development, and on-going job coaching, SL Start’s comprehensive model incorporates community partnerships/collaborations, including use of Workforce Solutions that enhance self-sufficiency.
It is our belief that everyone is employable and everyone adds value to the businesses that they work in.
